Youth Tour

EMEPA sponsors local youth leaders in our annual Cooperative Youth Leaders Program and Youth Tour of Washington, D.C.

EMEPA accepts a student nomination from each local high school in our service area each fall. Nominees must be high school juniors with proven leadership skills and involvement in extracurricular activities within their school, church and/or community. All nominees participate in a one-day Cooperative University and interview process in the fall, and five students are selected to attend the Cooperative Youth Leaders Workshop in Jackson in February along with other young leaders from across the state.

In June, the students travel to Washington, D.C., to join youth leaders from across the nation spending a week touring monuments and historical sites and visiting their legislators on Capitol Hill.
