EMEPA prepares for Hurricane Francine impacts

As Hurricane Francine approaches, East Mississippi Electric Power Association personnel are closely monitoring the storm and taking necessary steps to ensure we are prepared for potential impacts. Our team is ready to respond to outages as safety conditions allow.

Our emergency response plan is activated, and restoration efforts will begin when weather conditions allow for safe deployment of our crews.

We encourage members who rely on life-saving medical devices to have a backup plan in place, as we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service throughout the storm.

Safety is our top priority. EMEPA encourages members to take safety precautions during and after the storm.

Stay Informed: Watch and listen to trusted local media for severe weather reports.

Ensure Generator Safety: If you plan to use a generator, DO NOT plug it directly into the wiring of your home. Doing so can create dangerous backfeed and put our linemen at risk.

Slow Down: Drive slowly and cautiously through utility work areas. When possible, move over allowing a free lane between the crew and your vehicle.

Stay Back: Stay away from downed power lines and report them to EMEPA immediately at 601-581-8600.

Visit our Storm and Outage Center for more safety and preparedness tips.

Outages can be reported online at emepa.com, through our mobile app or by phone at 601-581-8600.

We are committed to restoring power to all members as quickly as safety conditions allow. Thank you to our members for your cooperation and patience.
