East Mississippi Electric Power Association (EMEPA) recently sent crews to assist Natchez Trace Electric Power Association (NTEPA), headquartered in Houston, Miss., following Winter Storm Fern, which left much of north Mississippi blanked in layers of ice and caused widespread outages. EMEPA linemen, right-of-way crews, servicemen and engineering teams, as well as East Mississippi Connect fiber crews, worked alongside NTEPA crews for more than a week to help restore power safely and efficiently to affected members.
After completing the initial restoration efforts, the first round of EMEPA crews returned home safely. A second group of EMEPA employees then departed to provide restoration assistance to Alcorn County Electric (ACE), headquartered in Corinth, and an East Mississippi Connect fiber crew traveled to Delta Electric’s DElight Speed, headquartered in Greenwood, as winter weather impacts continued across the region.
“Mutual aid is a cornerstone of the cooperative network,” said EMEPA CEO Randy Carroll. “We are proud of our crews who step up when fellow cooperatives need help, while ensuring we continue to meet the needs of our members back home. Their commitment, professionalism and dedication truly represent the cooperative spirit.”
