Each October, electric cooperatives across the country celebrate National Co-op Month—a time to reflect on the cooperative difference and thank the members who make it all possible.
At East Mississippi Electric Power Association, we’re powered by purpose. Unlike investor-owned utilities, we don’t serve distant shareholders. We exist to serve you—our members, neighbors and communities.
Being a cooperative means we’re locally owned and locally controlled. You elect board members who live right here, and decisions are made at home, not in faraway boardrooms. That local accountability keeps us focused on what matters most: providing reliable, affordable power while strengthening the communities we serve.
From maintaining and upgrading our system to responding quickly when storms hit, our crews are committed to keeping the lights on. But our work doesn’t stop at the power lines. Supporting schools, sponsoring youth programs, partnering with local organizations, and expanding broadband are just some of the ways we invest in our communities.
As technology grows and energy needs change, we’re preparing for the future with a balanced approach to reliability and affordability. That’s the cooperative difference—and the reason we remain dedicated to serving you.
This National Co-op Month, we celebrate you, our members. You’re not just a customer—you’re an owner and a vital part of keeping our communities strong, connected and energized.
